Meditation or Nap?

I’m a busy Mum and I rarely get a break…but when I do should I nap or meditate?

I find that a guided meditation is probably easier than having a twenty minute nap…simply because i don’t feel the pressure to fall asleep. I stick the latest iphone app meditation on and we’re off and running.

Research shows however that power naps are really useful for those who don’t get enough sleep at night (hello!). They also can contribute to a kind of downloading and processing of information. They keep you more alert and on the ball for the rest of the day. The key is to keep the nap short, around twenty minutes.

Both meditation and power naps reduce stress levels and boost energy but in terms of what I’m looking for, it seems that power napping may be the key to keeping on top of motherhood.

What do you do when you don’t get that down time?

I just came across something called meditation napping. So I can be rocking my baby, standing in the shower, talking to my husband…and all I have to do is close my eyes and block out the noise. I concentrate on my breathing, ignore the shouting, the dishes, the tugging at my arm and just be zen.

Genius.
