Make It Happen

Ever thought you really wanted to do something but there was just enough time, money, opportunity?

Well I have the answer.

It’s not that important to you.

For months I have been saying that it’s too hard to do exercise classes, I don’t have the time, energy or support.

You know what they were?

Excuses.

I didn’t really want to do formal exercise. Half my mind was calm and accepting of that thought and half of me was wracked with guilt. It’s not good for my body to not exercise, I miss Yoga, I miss the relaxation, I miss the time out.

But really it wasn’t my priority for the last few months.

And that’s ok.

But I still kept insisting I really wanted to…it’s just the classes were wrong….it was too expensive…too far…I didn’t want it to eat into my weekends.

This week I went to two classes.

That’s two hours of me time.

How did I find the time/motivation/class I liked?

I just decided I really wanted to do it and I got it done.

Leo spent his first two hours in the gym creche and the world didn’t end. He even seemed to have fun.

I liked the classes but had already made up my mind that if I didn’t I would just try a different one.

So you see….if you really want something you will make it a priority.

Stop beating yourself up for not doing the things you only half want to do.

There will come a time when if you want it enough you will make it happen.

Do you agree with me? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this subject xx

  1. That is such a good point, I am doing the same in the mornings & really I just need to go to bed earlier & get up earlier so I have more time in the mornings. Thanks for linking up with Eat.Pray.Love

    1. I feel so good but I think my body was telling me that during the summer and with getting my big joy settled in to school it wasn’t time for regular exercise. But the time is now!

  2. Love this Nicola and started getting excited…I found a gym that has memberships for $15 a week with a FREE crech! And they get outsource an experienced Hatha yoga teacher to come and teach the yoga classes! was that good manifesting or what? Ps. the gym is 5 mins from my house by car! A small one not advertised anywhere, just word of mouth…can’t wait. Excuses for not getting to this? I have none! 😉

    1. Because it is time for you! I tried the at home yoga but it kept stopping and starting and it really annoyed me! Mine is $13 a week and a couple of dollars for crèche so as happy as you! Off to hypno lates on Monday. Can’t wait to see what that’s about!

  3. I’ve always thought about how great it would be to become a yoga instructor. The voice in my head liked to say things such as:
“I’m too young, nobody would want to learn from me”
    “I don’t practice enough”
    “Teacher training is too expensive”
“What if I’m no good at it? It would be a waste!”

So I decided to duct tape that voice in my mind and have found an intensive one month course with a reliable school that happens in November.
So I have given myself 10 months to dedicate myself fully to the practice and if the teacher training doesn’t work out for me then at least I’ll have improved my health and my knowledge drastically- two things that will always be worth time and money!

Like you said, if it really is important to you, you will just do it.

    1. Sorry of this comment comes up twice. Tiana that is awesome about your course, don’t even think about it not working out, this course and your qualifications will just be another step forward in your future and a part of who you are.

  4. I have told some people, that when I say I “want” to do something, it’s really that I “want to want” to do something, but mostly don’t give a damn. That wanting-to-want is the tough part.

  5. I couldn’t agree more! That’s what it’s been about this year in my house, sending both boys off to school and saying HELLO to ME (because I kinda lost her for a while there). I start the week with swimming and end with yoga (hatha) and I’m LOVING IT!! xx

  6. Oh, I totally agree with you. If you want it badly enough, you will make it happen. That’s why I found it so much easier to write a Fuck It List than a Bucket List. A tad tragic that all I *really* want is to eat cakies and drink tea. Ahem.

  7. I am an excuse maker from way back (with 3 young boys, it is pretty easy to put the kids first before exercise) glad you got some “me” time

  8. Amen. It’s only when you get to the end of the excuses and/or are sick of hearing the same crap come out of your mouth that you can DO something! I made that change 10 months ago and haven’t looked back since. Now I wish I’d started 4 years ago instead of 10 months!!

  9. Really great to read this. So very true. Why beat ourselves up over something if we only half want it. When we are ready and willing, we can achieve anything!
