Make it a Trilogy.
If you haven’t read the Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay yet go out and buy them now.
Then book yourself a couple of days off and devour them. Enter the world where fiction meets a very terrifying could-be reality.
Suzanne Collins has mastered this concept and created a world and characters so real that I literally could not put my Ipad down, reading the trilogy in days.
I fed Leo spoonfuls of food and looked down at my pages, my worlds colliding in and out, reality vs fantasy.
If you haven’t heard of the premise of the book I’m not giving much a way by letting you know that it is a reality TV game where children from each of the 12 districts that make up Panem (the world/country – wasn’t really sure) are picked to compete to the death against each other in The Hunger Games. Literally, to the death. There is one victor. These kids are between 12 and 18.
The Capitol – which runs all the districts puts on the games every year to teach the districts a lesson for an uprising that occurred 75 years prior, when there used to be a District 13. The cruelty of the President knows no bounds.
If you have heard what the book was about and thought it not for you then I beg you to reconsider. When I picked up the book and learned what the subject matter was I wrinkled my nose but didn’t stop reading because from page 1 I was lost.
Maybe you don’t read fantasy, would feel silly reading a novel aimed at teenagers or don’t really love action – that was me too but I’m obsessed with these books.
We watched the movie on Saturday night.
Amazing.
They were true to the book and it’s the first time my husband (who doesn’t read books) wanted to read the sequel because he’s not sure he can wait till they release the second novel Catching Fire as a movie, to find out what happens next.
I’m jealous of him. My journey with the Trilogy is over 🙂
